A key disadvantage is that if you own a Steam game on Windows and it isn’t yet ported over to Mac you can still see the game in your game library on the Mac side but can not play it without Windows. Stability: Steam is known for its fast connections with users getting download speeds on purchases and updates nearing 900 megabytes per second in some cases.  For the Mac software this holds true and the links and options in the program operate relatively quickly and smoothly. Freezes and crashes are minimal and as of this writing the software for Mac is less than a month old. It is likely the bugs will be worked out and stability will improve.

Overall: For those who already use Steam and own a Mac this is a great piece of software. It limits the need to have to boot up Windows on your Mac to play games. It isn’t yet a complete substitute for Steam on Windows due to most games still being a Windows only deal. Over time you’ll likely see more and more titles converted to the Mac side and maybe even see brand new games coming to Mac at the same time as Windows. The move to Mac is a big one for sure and one that will change the world of computer based gaming. In the wake of a new Blu-ray standard for high-definition 3D TV, Panasonic, Sony and Samsung are all releasing home-theater setups that can display 3D TVs in full high-def glory. Using a combination of 3D capable Blu-ray players, TVs and, glasses, the systems are able to deliver separate, full-screen, 1080p pictures to each eye. The technique they use creates a picture as vivid as in a movie theater without requiring a major overhaul of TV technology. And within a few years, a new cable television standard could even bring live events like the Super Bowl right to your TV in high-def 3D.
We see depth when images from our left and right eyes merge into one; to re-create that in high-def, TVs must refresh the picture at least 120 times a second with alternating frames for the left and right eye, which tricks your brain into seeing only one image.

Most new TVs are fast enough to do this, but to be 3D-capable, TVs must include a converter chip and software to break down the signal and separate the left and right images. An infrared or radio beam syncs shutter glasses with the screen to produce the final 3D effect.
Active-shutter glasses, like those included in Panasonic’s system, rapidly block one eye at a time so that each eye sees only the frame meant for it. The glasses contain two small, black-and-clear LCD lenses that darken or lighten when a radio or infrared pulse from the TV (or an add-on emitter) signals that the image is changing.

No one forgets their first 3D film experience.

Some people first experienced the illusion of an extra dimension wearing red and green glasses inside an attraction at a theme park. They may have watched short films simulating dizzying rides on rollercoasters or high-speed skiing. Others may have been wowed for the first time by the 3D version of James Cameron’s film Avatar.

German and Swiss researchers on a EUREKA project, however, have come up with technology that they think could soon affordably deliver the thrills and immediacy of 3D into our homes, as well as into some other unexpected places like operating rooms with a level of quality never reached before. “The seed of this project was just three friends chatting on the web” recalls Arnold Simon, Chief Technical Officer at the German company Infitec. At the time Simon was working as a consultant for Infitec and one of the other friends was Helmut Jorke, Chief Executive of Infitec, which had developed some of the best 3D technology for cinemas.

The friends chatted about the next challenge in 3D: how to develop a 3D LCD flat-screen monitor capable of displaying the full resolution of the new high-definition television formats. On that online chat, Jorke decided his company should create that screen. “The consumer market is the biggest and most interesting focus,” says Simon. Last year, in the UK alone, prior to the country’s switch over from analogue to digital, 10 million television sets were sold.

Infitec had made its name in the 3D world by developing more sophisticated technology based on the principle of the old red and green glasses. The company’s glasses use a narrow colour band wave to improve the quality of the image, using specific wavelengths of red, green and blue for the right eye and different wavelengths of the same colours for the left eye. The glasses filtering out very specific wavelengths give the spectator the illusion of a 3D image. Backed by EUREKA, Infitec partnered up with Optics Balzers, a Swiss company it knew that specialised in 3D filters, and the pair secured funding to start developing the 3D LCD screen — a mission they called Dualplex Display.

While Infitec researched the best signal and lighting to use in the monitor and software for it, Optics developed special filters for the lighting unit and the glasses. The project was not an easy one. Obtaining sample backlighting units from suppliers was not easy for two relatively small companies. Then the first demonstrator did not work and the partners decided they needed to create a brand new optic design for the monitor. They finally combined four light-emitting diode lamps (LEDs) — two green ones, one red and one blue one — to create the colour range they needed.

How to create a small garden pond in a container, pot, or tub

A pond is a pleasant, soothing, addition to any garden, yard or patio. They attract birds and other wildlife, and children love them, too. No matter how small your yard or your budget, you can build a pond to fit using an old cast iron bath tub, a wine or whiskey barrel, or any other suitable container that holds at least 20 to 30 gallons of water.

Once you’ve found or purchased your container, find a good place for your pond. When it’s full of water, it will be very heavy, so make sure it has a good solid base under it. Make sure the ground under it is packed and level, or set it on a patio or a bed of pavers. If you want to place it on a wooden deck or porch, make sure the structure can bear its weight. Ponds like sun, so full sun to partial shade will make the plants happiest. Also make sure there is good drainage around the container, since you will want to keep it full and add a little fresh water from time to time.

Plug any holes in your container, or line it with a pond liner to seal. If your pond will be in a wooden whiskey or wine barrel, be sure to line it with a pre-formed PVC plastic pond liner or a heavy rubber pond liner sheet. Barrels that have held fermentations can leach substances into your pond which can upset its ecological balance. Spread a little sand or pea gravel about an inch deep in the bottom to protect the liner and give the fish something interesting to peck at.

Place concrete blocks, bricks or large rocks in one end of the tub to set marginal plants on, and to provide hidey-holes for the fish. You can also set a broad shallow pot on the blocks to act as a bird bath. A clay drip tray commonly used under clay pots works well for this.

Your pond is small, so don’t over-crowd it with plants, but do get a mix of water lilies, marginals and floating plants. For most container ponds, one or two water will be plenty, along with a couple small marginals like black flag iris, dwarf cattail, or arrow head, and one or two selected floating plants like water lettuce, water hyacinth, frog bit or fairy moss.

It’s best to use pots for the lilies and marginal plants, because their roots can be very invasive, and pots make maintaining the pond easier. Many garden supply stores carry inexpensive plastic mesh pots that are perfect for water plants. Soak unscented clay kitty litter to use as potting soil, or use sand or soil from the bottom of a local pond. Regular potting soil has too many particles that float that will make a mess. Place pots with water lilies in the bottom, and pots with marginals on the concrete blocks. The tops of the marginal pots should be level with the surface of the water.

Adding fish will help control mosquitoes and other bugs, and add charm and color to your pond. Feeder gold fish from the pet store are very inexpensive and survive very well in most areas without a lot of feeding or care. For half-barrel size ponds, add up to 6 small fish, though the pond will probably only support about 3 as they grow. For larger ponds, add a few more. If your water source is chlorinated wait a few days after filling your pond before you add the fish.

Then you should know that you will need another Playstation 2 laser or CD drive, which getting another CD drive with a laser in it already is easier. You can buy the CD drive from EBay for a cheap price. When it comes to picking the right CD drive for your Playstation 2 you will need your model number off the back of the Playstation 2. After you do that find another Playstation 2 or CD drive that is same that model number. Here are some things you will need to have to complete this task.

· Phillips screw driver

· The replacement CD DRIVE (make sure you get your same model number)

Steps

The first step is to take the playstation 2 apart. First off there are total of 10 screws that need taken apart on the bottom of the playstation 2

Take those all off and flip the system over. Take the top part of the system off slowly to make sure you don’t break the on and off switch.

After that you will see the CD drive. The CD drive has for main screws on each corner of the CD drive. After you do that take the CD drive up slowly, This needs to be slowly because there are blue ribbons that are hooked to the CD drive.

Next depending on the model number you will have 2 or 3 ribbons on the CD tray make sure you don’t break those. Take those off by unclipping them and safely take the CD drive out.

Now that you did that you can keep that in case you just want to change just the laser out instead because the CD drive is still good just the laser isn’t. Unless the CD drive does spin.

After you took that out you should start placing the other one on. This part can be difficult being that you have to put the ribbons back on how they once were and you have little space to do so. After you do that put the CD drive in with the screws and put it back together. After that is done you should see if it turns on and the disc tray ejects.

After this you should be able to play the games you want once again.

I did a little study on an online shopping site, or in Singaporean terms, a blogshop as my case study is about an online shopping site based in Singapore, on how they use SEO to get massive traffic to their site.

No surprises; the name of the online shopping site that I am doing a case study on is “ShopLah!”.

Let’s get started with your SEO tip; there are 3 very important aspects of SEO.

If you want to know what is the definition of SEO, and the myths and truths about SEO, check out this article, “SEO guide: What is SEO, and the myths and truths about it”.

First, it is the type of keyword search words that Internet users frequently use.

Second, it is the amount of keyword competition.

Third, it is the strength of the websites or blogs that are competing for a specific keyword.

There are other aspects of SEO, but this is just the basics to help you get started.

1. Let me explain the type of keyword search words that Internet users frequently use.

What words do you expect an average user of Google will use when he or she is using Google’s search engine?

Let’s say, the user is looking for “fashion clothing”, and he or she types in “fashion clothing”.

Supposed in your fashion online shopping site or fashion blogshop, you have updated your posts and named the title of your posts such as “Best Deals!” or “Featured Products” or “Collection 8 – Holland Village launched!“, (I found this title for a blog post in an online shopping site.)

Do you really think Google is going to put your website or blog on its first page?

No, and why? Simply because Google uses bots and crawlers, not humans, to verify the nature of your website or blog!

The bots and crawlers don’t exactly know what you are talking about when you are using “Featured Products” as your blog post, because a website selling computers may be using “Featured Products” to sell laptops too!

I found so many online shopping sites don’t really understand how much traffic they have lost by not understanding SEO.

Of course, many of these shopping sites thrive on their “word of mouth” marketing without using SEO.

However, if you compare “ShopLah!” with other online shopping sites, they can obviously out sell any of their competition especially if there are so many searches online looking for “fashion clothing”.

So consider the keywords you should use when you are updating your blog post or websites.

2. Let me explain the amount of keyword competition.

Supposed you signed up for 2 lucky draws; one has 100 sign ups, and the other has 1000 sign ups.

So which of lucky draw do you stand for a higher chance? The one with 100 sign ups, or the other with 1000 sign ups?

Similarly, Google has only 10 places for websites or blogs to compete on for its first page, and for the keywords “fashion clothing”, there are 48 million websites competing.

If you are beginning to apply SEO techniques, competing with a bigger crowd will lower your chances than competing with a smaller crowd.

So do take note of the amount of keyword competition.

3. Let me explain the strength of keyword competition.

Supposed you want to start a furniture shop.

Do you want to your furniture shop beside IKEA? (In case you do not know, IKEA is a power house for selling furniture.)

No, and why? Simply because many visitors will pass by your shop and visit IKEA instead, as IKEA has built a big brand, reputation and name for its furniture.

Similarly, when you are competing for a keyword, in Google’s first page, check the strength of your competition for the top ten websites or blogs.

If they are too strong, I suggest that you should pick up other keywords to compete in.

Let me give you a summary on how to choose good keywords.

Good keywords should be:

Search words that an average person usually use.
That has the smallest amount of competition.
That has weak websites or blogs that compete for it.
How should I be using the keywords in my blogs or websites to my advantage?

There are many ways to use good keywords for your benefit, however I am not able to explain everything in detail.

I will just highlight a few that you might miss out.

1. When you find good keywords to use, you should always register your domain name that contains good keywords as much as possible.

An example, if you register a domain name such as “http://starlight.com/” versus “http://fashionclothing.com/”, which will Google favor more when a user searches for fashion clothing?

The latter, and that’s straightforward, because even for humans, how would I exactly know that “starlight.com” is a fashion clothing website?

So it is really better to register a domain name with good keywords.

However, I must say that it is very difficult to register a domain name with good keywords, because there are many people out there who would think the same way as you, and register these domains first.

If you can’t do that, don’t worry about it.

2. You should always use good keywords in the title and sub-headings of your blog posts, and talk about it as naturally as possible in the text of your post.

This will help search engines to identify the nature and popularity of your blog or website, and thus helping Google to favor your pages for the top ten slots.

Why should you be using keywords as naturally as possible? That’s because there are some who are overly enthusiastic with keywords.

Putting in keywords after every few words or sentences will not help Google to rank you better, because Google recognize that blog posts should be read by humans, not by their Google bots.

Also, it will annoy your readers as well, if they don’t understand what you are trying to say to them.
